Montefiascone, built in the Middle Ages, dominates the southern shore of Lake Bolsena. It has many famous monuments including its cathedral, with a dome second in size only to St. Peter’s in Rome and a partially renovated castle (Rocca dei Papi,). Montefiascone is also famous for it’s Est Est Est wine and extra virgin olive oil. It is 17 km from Viterbo and has easy access to the historical towns of Bolsena and Orvieto, to name but two.
